Or so it seems.
It is finally starting to get to me, yes I know there really hasn't been anything to get at; but it is starting to get to me, the wait that is. That wait for any hope, news, even a tweet about Guild Wars 2. For those that don't know the story let me give you the brief history lesson, for those that do know it you can skip the next paragraph.
ArenaNet was founded in 2000 by Patrick Wyatt, Jeff Strain, and Mike O'Brien (O'Brien now has full control over ArenaNet) who are ex-blizzard employees who left there post after hearing the direction World of Warcraft was taking and created their own studio under the direction of NC Soft. Guild Wars: Prophecies, the first installment in the Guild Wars saga was releases in April of 2005. It was met with some harsh reviews, but mostly praise. Shortly after its released it entangled me and won over my like of the MMORPG genre (yes you can argue all you want it isn't an MMO). Guild Wars: Factions, at the hand of a second development team was one year later and also received incredible reviews. It was around this time period that Guild Wars hit 3 million copies sold. Unlike many MMO that use subscriptions, Guild Wars does not, that makes it hard to track active subscription accounts, so they go by units sold instead. Later that year Guild Wars released Nightfall, the third and final full campaign in the Guild Wars saga. Although at that time we didn't know that hints of a Guild Wars: Utopia were a bound with a release date of next 2007. However, Guild Wars current engine lacked the ability to do what they wanted to do with GW:U so instead they opted for a second idea. They would release an expansion pack (the first true expansion pack) called Guild Wars: Eye of the North or GW:EN, and then use its story as a platform for Guild Wars 2. New game, new engine, new races, new story... based on the original; but BETTER! GW:EN released in Q3 2007. No one knew how far of GW2 was, but they hinted at a beta test starting late in 2008... obviously that didn't happen, in fact other then that we have heard nothing about GW2. Yes a little bit here and there and supposed release date of 2010-2011 that just screams 'WE DON'T KNOW".
What we do know is the movement of the world, which you can find on just about any Guild Wars wiki, summarizes that initial burst of info they gave us about the game. But what else do we have? Nothing from NC Soft other then "We check their news
http://us.ncsoft.com/en/news/guild-wars.htmlNothing from ArenaNet other then bragging that they have sold 6 million units of Guild Wars...
http://www.arena.net/press/So what do we have? Nothing really. NC Soft and ArenaNet both failed to show at E3 and GamesCon is probably all going to be about Aion... :( We have some fancy artwork
